GASTONIA, N.C. Pastor Joe Bell knows that a robbery can happen.
They came in through here and bummed around. They tore this door up a little, said Bell as he pointed to a damaged church door.
Despite this, it was still a shock when a burglary happened to his east Gastonia church.
They didn t try to pick it. They banged away at my office door until it opened, Bell explained.
As far as value lost, it wasn t as bad as it could have been. They could have torn up a lot more, but it was a shock to our people Saturday morning when they came to clean and stuff was all torn up, said Bell.
The thieves took two computers used for tutoring. A printer was also stolen from Bell's desk, and a projector used during church services was also part of the burglary.
A sense of security among church members was also taken from Eastside Church of Nazarene. The church would gladly give what they could to those in need.
I think there would be people who would be lost without what we do here, and there are families that can say Eastside is part of what helped turned things around, said Bell.
Police told Bell this is at least the third church break-in they've investigated recently, and they may an idea of who is responsible.
It'd be nice to know someone got caught if they did that to a church, Bell said.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Gaston County Crime Stoppers at 704-861-8000.
