CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. -- The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office was called to a wooded area Tuesday afternoon after skeletal remains were found.

Deputies are in the process of trying to identify the skeletal remains and how long they had been in the wooded area off Winkler Way about a half-mile from U.S. Highway 268.

Authorities blocked part of Winkler Way Tuesday while they investigated the scene.

Officials said they planned to search the area where the remains were found again on Wednesday, but weather concerns have delayed that search.

Deputies said this is not an area where they previously searched for the remains of 10-year-old Zahra Baker in 2010.
