CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police said a boy was injured when he ran into a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools bus in north Charlotte Tuesday afternoon.

The incident took place at the intersection of LaSalle Street and Syracuse Drive near West Charlotte High School around 4:30 p.m.

A witness stated a little boy crossed the street and ran into school bus number 806 from Oaklawn Language Academy, according to police.

The boy, who attends Whitewater Academy, hit the front doors and bounced off, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. The boy was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with minor injuries and is expected to be OK.

Twelve students were on board, and no one on the bus was injured.
