ROCK HILL, S.C. Two men are now behind bars after a late night shooting at a Rock Hill convenience store last week.

A clerk was shot during a robbery around 11 p.m. on July 25 at the Cherry Road Discount Food & Beverage convenience store at 348 South Cherry Road.

Police said two men came into the store and shot the 38-year-old clerk during the robbery.

Officers who were patrolling nearby chased the men on foot and caught 20-year-old Kadeem Sanders. Police said Sanders carried a rifle into the store.

The second suspect was later identified as Kairon Maldonado, and he was arrested Thursday afternoon.

The clerk was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte and is expected to survive.

Sanders and Maldonado are charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence and criminal conspiracy.
