CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A section of North Tryon Street closed on Tuesday because of a water main break.

Officials with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities Department announced Tuesday morning that a 12-inch water main break forced the closure of North Tryon Street between 36th Street and Atando Avenue.

Crews worked all day to repair the break, and authorities say they expect the water main break to be completely repaired by 6 p.m Tuesday, however, North Tryon between 36th Streen and Atando Avenue will remain closed through Thursday due to roadway damage and need for extended repair.

More details on the construction timeline are expected to be released on Wednesday.
