MARION, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say a 66-year-old man has been killed after he drove around the caution gates and was struck by a train in Marion County.

Investigators said Bobby White was driving in Sellers around 6:15 p.m. Saturday when the lights started flashing and the arms went down at a train crossing.

Troopers say White ignored the warnings and drove onto the tracks, where his car was hit.

The state Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
