STATESVILLE, N.C. -- The Iredell Statesville Schools public information officer was arrested on 21 felony charges.

The district contacted Statesville Police in April regarding Melissa Dawn Creason, 34.

School officials alleged Creason inappropriately used travel funds and stole the district s property from October 2007 to June 2013. The district assisted the police department and SBI with the investigation.

Following an investigation, detectives secured 16 warrants against Creason for obtaining property by false pretense and five for embezzlement of state property by an official.

Creason surrendered at the Statesville Police Department Thursday afternoon. She was given a $30,000 secured bond.
