FORTMILL, S.C. -- Two men are in custody after shots were fired at a Fort Mill apartment complex, leading to a car chase with police, officials say.
According to the police report, on Saturday, Cordora Harris went to an apartment in the 200 block of Drane Circle to pick up his children from their mother. Harris told officers Irayain Mitchell opened the door and began to argue with him. Then, Harris says Kolby Byers, who was also inside the apartment, approached them and pulled a gun from him waistband,
Then, Harris reported that he ran through the parking lot towards his sister's apartment while Byers fired numerous shots in his direction, striking only an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot.
Harris says Mitchell and Byers then fled in a 2000 silver Mazda Protege.
Harris ran back to the apartment to check on the welfare of his children, he told police, kicking in the front door, then kicking in an interior door to an upstairs bedroom. Harris told police when he kicked in the bedroom door, the door hit a woman in the face, but the victim told officers she wasn't near the door, but rather she was physically assaulted by Harris.
According to the police report, Harris stole the victim's phone and smashed it on the sidewalk.
Officers reported seeing a small amount of blood in the victim's nostrils coupled with bruising around her left eye.
