HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. --Patsy Martin feels pretty lucky after a storm swept through her Huntersville neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

Martin was inside her mobile home when lightning struck the one last tall tree in her yard.

It sounded like a bomb went off, said Martin. The lightning flashes were nearly blinding, she said.

The strike split the tree at the back corner of her home into two pieces, and the top fell onto power-lines next to her home.

Though branches landed on her roof, the trunk missed the home by inches -- sparing it more serious damage. No one was injured.

Praise Jesus! she grinned.

The weight of the tree pulled the power lines down and broke the pole. Energy United had to cut off power to eight homes temporarily while removing the trees and lifting the lines.

Martin said workers would return Monday to install a new pole.
