RAEFORD, N.C. (AP) -- Authorities in Hoke County say a county commissioner is facing multiple charges following an incident with his estranged wife.

Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said Tony Hunt, who also is the administrator for the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, was arrested Wednesday after going to his wife's home in Raeford. Peterkin said the couple has been separated since July.

The sheriff provided no further details.

Among the charges Hunt faces are misdemeanor counts of assault on a female, assault by pointing a gun, communicating threats and carrying a concealed weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, and it's not known whether Hunt has an attorney.
