MOORESVILLE, N.C. On Thursday Lowe s announced plans to rebuild a Sanford store that was damaged by a tornado on April 16.

Employees at the store have been hailed as heroes. There were roughly 100 employees and customers in the store when the storm hit. Employees herded everyone to a break room in the back of the store, away from the windows, in less than a minute. Everyone in the store made it through the tornado without any major injuries.

While the Sanford store is closed, employees from the store have been placed at stores in Pittsboro, Cary, Fayetteville, Chapel Hill, Southern Pines, Smithfield, Clayton, Erwin, Apex, Mebane, Laurinburg and Durham, N.C.
