COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina authorities are searching for suspects following an armed robbery and shooting in one of Columbia's most popular entertainment districts.

The State of Columbia reported ( ) that a couple was held up by two men about 1 a.m. Saturday in the heart of the Vista neighborhood.

Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott said the victims had just gotten into a parked car in a lot near the Blue Marlin restaurant when a man opened the driver's side door and demanded their belongings at gunpoint. Police said the male victim got out of the car and fought with that suspect, who shot him in the chest.

Police said the victim is in stable condition. The two suspects were seen on surveillance video and police are seeking to identify them.
