CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte region has a strong chance of seeing rain this weekend.

Today there will be plenty of sunshine with comfortable temperatures in the low 70s, according to the First Warn Storm Team.

Rain is expected to move into the area on Saturday afternoon.

Showers will move across the Charlotte area Saturday afternoon, with heavy rain coming late at night and into Sunday, forecaster Larry Sprinkle said.

The weekend will be mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers Saturday and 70 percent Sunday, according to the First Warn Storm Team.

Today you will be able to enjoy the sunny weather, but by Saturday afternoon rain will move in, Sprinkle said. It will hang around for of Saturday and Sunday.

Highs will be in the mid-60s, with morning lows in the low 50s for Saturday and Sunday.

Scattered showers will continue into Monday and Tuesday of next week.
