GASTONIA, N.C. -- A Gastonia couple is jailed, accused of abusing their 4-month-old little girl.
Gaston County Police were called to Caromont Regional Medical Center last Thursday after the infant was brought in for treatment of seizures. Medical personnel diagnosed the 4-month-old girl with a brain injury, and the child was transported to Levine's Children's Hospital in Charlotte.
Gaston County Police say their investigation led them the parents' residence in the 3700 block of Hickory Grove Road in Gastonia.
As a result of their investigation, the parents, 19-year-old Taylor Andrew McDaniel and 21-year-old Nannette Louise McDaniel were both charged with felony child abuse. Additionally, Taylor is charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury.
The child is currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Levine's Children's Hospital. The child is in the legal custody of the Department of Human Services of Gaston County.
Taylor is held under a $100,000 bond, while Nannette is held on a $75,000 bond.
