CHARLOTTE, N.C -- New details emerged Wednesday after a seventh grade student brought a loaded gun to a Charlotte middle school on Tuesday.
School administrators were informed around 11:30 a.m. that a 12-year-old student brought a loaded gun on Community House Middle School's campus.
Officials said the boy had a loaded semi-automatic 380 handgun in his book bag, and police said the boy stole a pair of guns from his grandfather. The other gun, a revolver, has still not been found.
Charlotte police were notified Tuesday and took the student into custody. Authorities searched the student's locker and located the semi-automatic gun.
No one was threatened or injured during the incident.
The boy told police he brought it to school because he was previously threatened by another student, but police say there is no evidence of bullying between the two.
The student was taken to the uptown Law Enforcement Center to speak with authorities Tuesday and was later transported to a juvenile facility in Gastonia.
The boy is likely to appear before a juvenile court judge in a few days. A higher level of security was present at the middle school on Wednesday.
