CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte Bobcats' small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist visited the Humane Society of Charlotte to find a new addition to his family.

We're really excited today, because we got to help Michale Kidd-Gilchrist choose a dog for his home, and he picked out this perfect little puppy, says Humane Society of Charlotte President and CEO Shelly Moore.

We think it's a great opportunity to have a professional NBAplayer get an animal from the shelter and talk about the positive experience getting an animal, and how shelter animals are really good pets, Moore continued.

Although the Humane Society doesn't know the dog's history, they say the 8 to 10 week old puppy was left in a crate in the Humane Society parking lot.
