CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer was injured Monday afternoon while chasing a suspect wanted for outstanding warrants.

Police have charged 20-year-old Allen Jerome White with two counts of resisting arrests for his involvement in Monday's chase.

The North Tryon Division officer was chasing White near the 2400 block of Finchley Drive. The officer followed White behind a house, who then jumped a fence.

As the officer was climbing the fence, a dead tree trunk that was lying on the fence fell and pinned the officer underneath it.

The officer radioed for help. Medic and CFD arrived and began treating the officer before he was transported to Presbyterian Hospital for treatment.

White was arrested early Tuesday morning. He is being held at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
