LINCOLNTON, N.C. An 11-year- old opened a lemonade stand and raised more than $1,200 for Hurricane Irene flood victims.

After hearing about the flooding from the Hurricane Irene in Vermont, 11-year-old Christian Boyles decided he would do something to help.

It was Wednesday night when he made the decision to have a lemonade stand on Saturday morning, said proud mother Christy Boyles.

The community also pitched in helping Christian with his efforts by donating sodas and water. By the close of his business on Saturday, Christian had raked in $1,245.00.

Christian's mother tells NewsChannel 36, Some of the money raised will go to the food pantry in Ludlow Vermont; the other portion Christian hopes will help purchase school supplies for students at the elementary school in Ludlow.
