HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. A local woman made her national television debut Tuesday night in the season premiere of the The Biggest Loser.
Emily Joy from Huntersville is a local teacher competing on the show.
The 29-year-old began the competition weighing 264 pounds and has high blood pressure. She used to be a junior Olympian in weight lifting, and lost 10 pounds in the weigh-in on Tuesday.
I really have a new kind of outlook on my body and my mind, Joy said during the show.
Joy was teamed up with trainer Bob Harper during the premiere. She hopes to lose weight and then take a trip to Sicily.
The Biggest Loser airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on NewsChannel 36.
