RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina Rep. Patrick McHenry has defeated his three Republican primary opponents as he seeks a fourth term in Congress.

Unofficial results from Tuesday's election showed McHenry with 62 percent of the vote compared to 26 percent for Vance Patterson of Morganton, 9 percent for Scott Keadle of Mooresville and 3 percent for David Michael Boldon of Maiden.

McHenry will face one of two Democrats vying for a spot on the November ballot. With half of precincts reporting, Jeff Gregory of Shelby and Anne N. Fischer of Morganton each had 50 percent of the vote.

The 10th District in western North Carolina borders both Tennessee and South Carolina.
