CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The final report on who would best control Charlotte Douglas Airport is expected to be released Wednesday.

Tuesday night city leaders met behind closed doors with the city attorney to talk about the airport's future. There is some speculation that the city may be considering a lawsuit to stop lawmakers in Raleigh from transferring control of the airport to an authority.

NBC Charlotte asked Councilman Warren Cooksey about that.

We had a meeting under attorney client privilege, he replied.

When asked if lawsuits against the state were discussed, Cooksey said, We had a conversation under attorney client privilege.

If the regional authority bill is approved by the legislature the council could move forward with legal action.

As far as that airport study is concerned, the final results will be presented to the council next Monday.
