JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- A Jacksonville woman has been charged in the death of a child who drowned last month.

The Daily News of Jacksonville reported (http://bit.ly/12soNu6) that 27-year-old Amanda Gayle Reed is charged with involuntary manslaughter, negligent child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Jacksonville police say Reed is accused of failing to supervise a child in an area with a swimming pool which led to the drowning.

Twenty-month-old Mercadiez Kohlinda Reed died May 11.
