CHARLOTTE, N.C. One person was injured in an accident along Interstate 485 in north Charlotte Saturday morning.

Emergency crews responded to I-485 near Oakdale Road after a tractor-trailer caught fire around 6:45 a.m.

One person was transported to the hospital, according to Medic.

Traffic in both directions was at a standstill as crews worked to put out the fire.

Highway Patrol says the driver of the tractor trailer may have fallen asleep at the wheel. The driver told authorities he didn't remember the crash.

Officials said it appeared that the driver was fatigued during the crash.

Authorities say the trucking company and the driver were out of Georgia. The was transporting envelops from Pennsylvania when it crashed on I-485.

The driver was cited with failure to maintain lane control and careless and reckless driving.
