DAVIDSON, N.C. Mecklenburg County issued a no swimming advisory for a portion of Lake Cornelius on Monday afternoon after a sewage spill.

Officials say roughly 750 gallons of sewage spilled into Lake Cornelius from a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities pump station on Peninsula Drive.

That spill has been stopped and repairs at the station are underway.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services staff has collected samples and will continue to test the water until fecal coliform bacteria levels reach a level safe for swimming, which is below 200 colonies/100ml.
