CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are trying to find two men who tried to carjack a woman in east Charlotte.

They were not successful because the 53-year-old, 5-foot-2, 120-pound woman decided to fight back.

So she feared for her life, but she started screaming and the guy hit her a couple of times and then they fled, said the woman through an interpreter. She did not want to be identified.

The victim was visiting her daughter Thursday evening around 7:30 at an apartment complex off Central Avenue.

As soon as she pulled up, a couple of guys approached her; before she could roll up her window a gun was in her face.

The guy asked her for her bag. She said she didn't have one. He asked for her car and she said, but this is my car.

The defiance didn't end there-- the victim threw the keys on the floor and started screaming.

Her reaction was to fight back, not to give in. She was scared-- she just started, screaming asking for help, said the interpreter.

Her son is proud of her, but hopes she won t do it again.

Part of me is like, Nah, don't do it again, because not everybody is rational and she could have gotten killed, he said.

She hopes that police are able to make an arrest, because she is certain the suspects will strike again.
