MONROE, N.C. A man who police say stole several valuable gold necklaces during a pawn shop robbery on Wednesday afternoon in Monroe has been caught.

The incident happened around 12:30 inside the Top Dollar Pawn and Jewelry shop located at 2114 Suite-B West Roosevelt Boulevard.

Police say Durell Stephon Williams, 23, of Charlotte entered the store and asked to see several pieces of jewelry. He then snatched them from the display counter, ran out of the store and got into a 2004 black Mercedes that was parked on Secrest Shotcut Road.

Williams was arrested Monday night at an apartment on J. Julian Lane in Charlotte by Monroe police and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.

He was also charged with a robbery that took place at the Treasure Chest at 1510 Skyway Drive on February 1.

He was charged with two counts of felony larceny and is behind bars at the Union County Jail on a $20,500 bond.
