UNIONCOUNTY, N.C. -- An act of violence coupled with a threat prompted the evacuation of a high school campus in Union County.

Officials with Union County Schools tell NBCCharlotte there were several landscaping rocks thrown through the window of a conference room at Marvin Ridge High School on Thursday, one of which had a note attached.

The note threatened the school would blow up sometime on Thursday.

Students were immediately evacuated from the school while a search of the campus ensued. Nothing was found and the students were permitted back into the building to continue the school day.

The school's principal notified parents of the situation through the ConnectEd messaging system.

As a precaution, the school will be searched before students arrive for classes on Friday morning. No delays are expected.
