CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One person is in custody and one person is wanted by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police after a warrant service led to a brief SWATstandoff.

Wednesday morning, officers with CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team went to 5500 block of Albemarle Road to serve a warrant upon Fitzroy Williams, 24, for felony probation violation for absconding. Police say Fitzroy is a suspect in an assault with a deadly weapon incident that occurred on Sunday.

When officers arrived, Fitzroy barricaded himself inside an apartment, police say, prompting the SWATTeam and negotiators to be called to the scene. Meanwhile, nearby residents were evacuated from their homes.

A brief standoff ensued, but Fitzroy was taken into custody without further incident.

The VCAT is also looking to locate a second suspect in Sunday's assault with a deadly weapon, 22-year-old Christopher Williams. Police say Christopher has a warrant out for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury.

If you know of Christopher's whereabouts, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
