CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer Toriarno Roddey is canvassing door to door to help find a killer. He is walking on Major Street, in west Charlotte.
Police need the public's help in solving the murder of Rashad Porter. The young father was shot and killed in the middle of the street back on July 13. CMPD says he was with a group of people, but no one has come forward to help police.
"It's just like a puzzle. That's what the detectives in the homicide unit put it all together to find out a little bit of information to lead to a suspect," Roddey said.
Roddey is carrying cards, containing information for people to contact police anonymously. He passed them out to each household he passes.
"Basically you can text it to us, you can go through email, or you can call the number." Roddey said
"We know someone knows something and we just want them to come forward and help us," said Detective Rosalyn Harrington of the CMPD.
Any clue, no matter how small can make the difference, Detective Harrington believes.
CMPD is counting on anyone with information about this murder to call 704 432-TIPS to speak directly with a homicide detective working this case.
