LINCOLNTON, N.C. -- A nationwide search for an alleged Lincolnton criminal ended with an arrest in Union County.

The warrants for Jonathan Christopher Wise were issued following an undercover investigation conducted by the Lincolnton Police Department in January.

Police say Wise sold 11 grams of methadone to an undercover officer in the 100 block of Roper Drive. Officers attempted to arrest him but they say he sped away at a dangerous speed. Investigators also say he intentionally drove toward police as he fled.

The suspect ran once he reached a dead end. A foot search involving multiple agencies was unsuccessful.

Tips finally led Union County deputies to Wise this week. He was booked into jail on a $300,000 secured bond and will be transferred to Lincoln County.

Wise faces more than a dozen criminal charges included resisting arrest, trafficking drugs, assault with a deadly weapon on a government official.
