STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Following up on a tip from a concerned citizen, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office apprehended a convicted sex offender who violated parole on rape charges in Oregon.
On August 17, deputies responded to the 100 block of Ivanhoe Lane in Statesville after receiving information that a resident may have been involved in a crime out of state.
Deputies met with 59-year-old Tommy Dale Cloer, and after running his information through multiple databases, determined Cloer was wanted out of Lane County, Oregon, for a parole violation on the charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sex offense.
Cloer was charged with three counts of failing to register as a sex offender in Iredell County, and booked on a fugitive warrant out of Oregon for the parole violation. His bond was set at $450,000.
The Iredell County Sheriff's Office says Cloer may have additional federal charges filed for being a sex offender who crossed state lines and failed to register.
