UNION COUNTY, N.C. -- An internal investigation is underway after a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer was charged with assault on a female.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say officer Michael R. Snider was charged with one count of domestic related assault on a female following an incident at his home in Union County.
His wife reports Snider picked her up and threw her to the ground during an argument.
CMPD says Officer Snider has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation by Internal Affairs.
He posted a $2,500 bond.
Officer Snider has been with the department since 2003; he's currently assigned to patrol in the Independence Division.
