GASTONIA, N.C. -- Gastonia Police say a 25-year-old man shot a family member three times Monday morning.
Jerecos Byers, 25, shot a family member outside Hudson Laundry in the 2000 block of Davis Park Road in Gastonia around 11:30 Sunday morning, according to Gastonia Police.
Police actively searched for the gunman for several hours until about 3:30, when officers were informed Byers had turned himself in to the Gaston County Jail.
Authorities say the victim was shot three times in the buttocks and was taken to Kings Mountain Hospital. The victim is expected to survive.
Byers is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury.
