GASTONIA, N.C. -- Crews from three departments battled a brush and structure fire Saturday afternoon in Gastonia.

Around 4:30, Crowder's Mountain Fire and Rescue, Union Road Volunteer Fire Department and the Gastonia Fire Department responded to the blaze in the 4600 block of Chapel Grove Road.

Upon their arrival to the scene, fire crews found nearly an acre of land and a barn engulfed in flames.

High winds fueled the flames, leaving firemen to fight the fire for 45 minutes before bringing it under control.

No injuries were reported.

Approximately 1.5 acres of land was scorched, and the barn was destroyed.

Authorities say the fire was caused by an uncontrolled burn.
