GASTONIA, N.C. -- Three people were taken to Caromont Regional Medical Center following a serious crash in Gastonia Thursday afternoon.
The Gastonia Fire Department responded to an accident with injuries at the intersection of Union Road and Willow Street just before 1 p.m. Thursday.
Authorities say a sedan with two occupants and an SUVwith one occupant were involved in a collision.
One of the passengers of the sedan was pinned inside the vehicle, prompting a physical rescue with hydraulic rescue tools.
One patient was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries, while the two other victims were taken with non-life threatening injuries.
The scene was cleared within about 45 minutes.
