LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. -- A missing Lincoln County man has been found safe in Chapel Hill.
Troy Marshall Scronce, 73, was last seen at a home in the 1500 block of George Brown Road in Crouse. He was reported missing around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities say Scronce, who suffers from dementia or some sort of cognitive impairment.
Around 7:40 p.m. Thursday a good Samaritan encountered Scronce in Chapel Hill and determined that he was disoriented. He took him to UNC Hospital where Scronce is being treated. The hospital contacted Chapel Hill Police who determined that Scronce was reported missing from Lincoln County.
Scronce left his George Brown Road home Wednesday afternoon telling family members he was going from a ride.
When he didn't return after several hours they called 911. Deputies were dispatched to the call and a Silver Alert was issued for Scronce.
