CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One person was killed in a motorcycle accident in southwest Charlotte Saturday afternoon.
The accident happened on West Tyvola Road near Tyvola Centre Drive around 2 p.m.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say the driver of the motorcycle, Reid Michael Sampson, 19, lost control and crashed into the curb in the 600 block of West Tyvola Road.
Police say Sampson was ejected from the vehicle and struck a tree.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors, according to authorities.
Part of West Tyvola Road was closed while police investigated the accident. The road reopened around 4 p.m.
