CALIFORNIA -- A local rescue group is helping dozens of Geese affected by a drought in California.
The pond those birds rely on has dried up so city leaders brought in a large water trough. But it wasn't enough.
Because Canada Geese are not native to that area wildlife officials said it was out of their hands. That's when volunteers from Union County based Carolina Waterfowl Rescue swooped in to help.
"We're kind of doers and not thinkers sometimes. We just tend to act when we need to. And so that's why we're here," said Jennifer Gordon of Carolina Waterfowl Rescue.
Carolina Waterfowl says 52 geese in all were taken from the site. They'll be taken to two different sanctuaries in California.
