CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One person was killed and another was injured in an accident on Interstate 485 Wednesday night.

Troopers from the North Carolina Highway Patrol said the wreck happened on the inner loop of I-485 near Steele Creek Road around 11 p.m. and involved a car and multiple motorcycles.

Troopers closed the inner loop of I-485 for several hours while they investigated the accident. It reopened around 3 a.m.

The one victim that was injured was transported to Carolinas Medical Center - Main with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.
