CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- We're almost at the finish line for Project 485.
After three years of construction, the final piece of the outer loop should be done by December. When finished, the six-mile long project will run west of Highway 115, connecting I-85 with I-77.
It will feature a "turbine" interchange at 485 and 85, as well as diverging diamond interchanges and roundabouts at Mallard Creek Road and Prosperity Church Road.
"I think they will embrace it, once they see everything come together," said Bemetria Pierce, a nearby homeowner. "As you know, Charlotte is growing so much so, this is just an extension of what's to come."
Right now, crews are paving the final two miles of the project.
