CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Both directions of Albemarle Road were shut down at 4 p.m. Wednesday as emergency crews responded to a multi-car wreck in the street's 6400 block.
Two people were taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Medic officials said one of the victims had life-threatening injuries; the other needed treatment for potentially life-threatening injuries.
The crash happened around 3:40 p.m. Firefighters had to extract at least one person who was trapped in the incident.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating the accident.
