A 103-year-old woman in Woodstock, Vermont finally gets her high school diploma.
Mildred Gay had to drop out of school to take care of her sick mother, and says it was never the right time to go back.
Eighty-seven years later, the school district heard Gay always wanted to finish school. So to recognize her respect for learning, the community awarded her an honorary diploma.
The school district’s superintendent Alice Worth says, "It doesn't matter how old you are or where you are, to recognize the value of education, and the appreciation of education, is fabulous to me."
Mildred says her advice for students of all ages is to keep learning new things, and surround yourself with people you love.
