A day at the beach is supposed to be relaxing. But one beachgoer in Germany had his tanning session interrupted by an airplane.
Take a look at the video above. You can see a small plane head for the runway, but it aims a bit too low. The landing gear comes close to the half-naked man lying on the sand. He almost gets crushed.
This happened on a beach on Heligoland, an island in northern Germany. The plane made it over the man, but still plowed through the fence a few feet later.
Juergen Drucker was the pilot of that PA-28-181 Archer II plane. He admitted that he mistakenly flew in too low.
"It was me that was flying and I am really sorry. I have to say. As the pictures show, that it wasn’t one of my greatest achievements in the cockpit,” Drucker told the Huffington Post UK.
"In my defense, I can say that I didn’t see him because he was lying down and I’m just very grateful it worked out well and I didn’t land on him. I don’t want to say any more than that.”
He hopes he will be able to keep his license, but fears that he will be in for a fine from the Federal Aviation Office.
