SALISBURY, N.C. -- There are new details about what happened inside the house of missing teen Erica Parsons on the day dozens of investigators went through it with a search warrant.
The family attorney says an interview with Erica's mom Casey that day suddenly stopped.
The Parsonses’ attorney says a FBI agent asked for a break, and then told him, not Casey, but referring to Casey that lying to a federal agent is a crime.
That brought the August 14 interview with Casey at the house during the 12-hour search to a halt.
Attorney Carlyle Sherrill told the FBI that Casey believed Erica was living with her biological grandmother, because that's who Casey thought she met and was introduced to Erica's biological mother Carolyn; if the facts weren't true, Sherrill says it's not because Casey was lying, but simply told federal agents what she'd been told.
Sherrill says later that same day, local investigators put Sandy Parsons in a squad car after they thought questioning was over, and that's one reason for an ongoing, contentious relationship the Parsonses have with local investigators, compared to the FBI.
"I'm told Sandy was placed in the back of a patrol car, and that they began making accusatory questions toward him again and he didn't want local law enforcement here the next day," Sherrill said.
That next day, Sandy Parsons talked to the FBI for about four hours at Sherrill's office.
Sherrill says the Parsonses feel the FBI is looking for a missing person, while local investigators are trying to pin a crime on them, and that's another reason for the contentious relationship.
The Parsonses last talked to local investigators about two weeks ago, that Sherrill knows of. He says Casey and Sandy talk to the FBI-- even when he's not around for the discussion.
Carolyn Parsons, Erica's biological mother was spotted leaving the courthouse shortly after noon on Monday, escorted out by a deputy. Officials have not confirmed if she was on site for an interview. She didn’t speak to media.
On Carolyn Parsons’ Facebook page, she says she never introduced Casey and Sandy to "Nan", the woman the parent say Erica went to live with.
Nobody has been arrested or charged in Erica's disappearance.
