CORNELIUS, N.C. -- Transportation leaders in Cornelius held a meeting Thursday night to speak out against a plan to add high occupancy toll lanes to Interstate 77.
Those lanes would run through the Lake Norman area. Under the plan, if you're riding alone in your vehicle you'd have to pay to use those lanes, but drivers with passengers would be allowed to use them for free.
At last night's meeting the Cornelius Transportation Advisory Board voted to support a resolution to drop the plan and look for alternatives.
Members said they don't think the lanes would ease traffic enough on I-77.
