A dog from California gets a second chance thanks to an animal rescue group in Canada.

Meet Cricket. She was found last week in Modesto, California after being shot in the face; the bullet exited between her ears.

No California shelters would take Cricket, and that's when Panda Paws Rescue stepped in.

“They teach you a life lesson. I don't gain anything from this, other than knowing I did the right thing," says Amanda Giese of Panda Paws Rescue.

Cricket has bounced back, but still has some problems; she's partially paralyzed on the right side of her face and has some hearing loss.

She'll eventually be put up for adoption.
