CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- They are high school seniors from across Charlotte.  Strangers-- coming together for a cause.

It’s called the Senior Build Up. The students are raising money, and raising the roof by building a Habitat for Humanity house to give one West Charlotte family a home.

The owner, an immigrant father of three, is working alongside the students.

There are lessons you can't learn in a classroom-- lessons beyond the obvious.

“It’s good to get out there and serve the community… for me especially it’s very fulfilling to know I'm out here helping out,” said Myers Park student Ward Snyder.

Lessons that will, thanks to the house they're building, last a lifetime.

The build continues until May when the house will be completed and dedicated to the new owners.
