CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A member of the president's cabinet sat down with Mayor Anthony Foxx and local workers Wednesday to talk about minimum wage.

Acting Secretary of Labor, Seth Harris, spoke with Foxx about a proposal by President Obama to raise the minimum wage.

In his State of the Union address, the president mentioned hiking the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $9 an hour.

North Carolina's minimum wage law meets the federal standard; South Carolina doesn't have a minimum wage law.
