RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- The risk of freezing rain has ended in North Carolina--with little precipitation--but a number of schools delayed the start of classes on Monday.
There were two areas with freezing rain advisories that expired late Monday morning--in the mountains in Boone and in the Greensboro, Durham and Raleigh area.

Avery County Schools, Catawba County Schools, Hickory Public Schools, Mitchell County Schools and Watauga County Schools all opened two hours late on Monday. Caldwell County Schools is opening three hours later than normal.
The National Weather Service had warned that freezing rain and a little sleet was possible in the state early Monday.
That prompted a number of schools to delay the start of classes two or three hours.
Most areas had temperatures in the mid-30s to 40s by late Monday morning.
