CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Adam Hastings told us back in June he didn't care how his football team started the season. His concern was about how Ardrey Kell finished 2013. The Knights rolled up their highest point total of the season Friday night, beating rival Marvin Ridge 45-24.

The Knights started their scoring when Nathan Turnbow found Trey Ellis for a 53 yard strike in the first quarter, giving Ardrey Kell a 7-0 lead.
Marvin Ridge responded as Turner Schwartz hit Yusupha Foster for a 20 yard score, tying the game at 7.
Ardrey Kell went right back to work as Austin Pires hit Brian McLeod in stride for 77 yards and another score making it 14-7 Ardrey Kell.
The Knights added some cushion in the second quarter, tallying 17 unanswered points. The big play: a 70 yard punt return by Josh German. Ardrey Kell went into the locker room with a 31-10 lead.
Foster and Marvin Ridge answered in the third quarter. His second score of the game made it 31-16. Turnbow found Ellis for a third time. It put the game out of reach.
"I don't care what show it is,” Coach Hastings said. "All I care about is winning games. We've done that, but now it is time to prepare for a new week and a new team. "
"We're a young team and for our guys, this was the first time they stepped into the ring for a big boy fight. You saw our crowd and we're excited to get home next week,” Marvin Ridge head coach Danny Bailey said.
Ardrey Kell improves to 2-1 on the season with the victory. The Knights head to Cuthbertson next week. Marvin Ridge drops to 0-2 on the season. The Mavericks host Indian Land in their home opener next week.
